Messing around with my new ukulele~
Dear people of Shanghai,
It’s like 99 degrees out. So then why do you wear wool cardigans over your t-shirts and sweater vests over your blouses? Can a girl please wear a tank top and some shorts without feeling super self-conscious around here?
Btw: Today, I legitimately thought about unironically buying a sun-brella and unironically using it. What’s happening to me.

Shanghai
Things I saw outside the West Yang’An subway station this morning:
An old couple holding hands
A middle-aged woman on her bike smiling ear-to-ear to herself
People playing badminton
An old man shaving the head of another old man in a small alleyway
Things I did not see outside the West Yang’An subway station this morning:
A single place that sells hot coffee
Goodbyes are seriously the worst
I’m sitting here in my room with an open suitcase and mounds of clothes sprawled out all around me. I hate packing.
I’m flying to Shanghai tomorrow morning and leaving behind Beijing and my new friends, some of whom I feel like I’ve known forever in spite of the more-than-slight language barrier and some of whom I was just starting to get to know beyond the easy part and...

My little brother is graduating from high school...
approximately 6250 miles away from me.
Oh gawd. Even though it kills me to admit it, he’s seriously like, my best friend.
When we were younger (we’re two and a half years apart), we used to get up at the crack of dawn every Saturday morning to watch Pokemon and during the commercials we’d bring out our carefully embellished Pokemon card collection in our spotless white binders...
Old school
My mom used to dress us up for no reason and she’d take us to a playground near home and we’d take a bunch of pictures.
Post script, look at the size of my little brother’s head. He must’ve had a really strong neck
Miss ya.

Our time is running out
I’m leaving Beijing in six days and I feel incredibly sad about it.
On a brighter note, I received a full body + foot massage for approximately 10 dollars today. Also got muh nailz did.
I’ve been consuming an average of 2-3 popsicles a day. Catherine’s brilliant influence. Also, they’re like, ridiculously cheap. And also really yummy.
Popsicle-five.

Things that need to stop
People being ~hilarious~ and changing each other’s Facebook statuses to something about being gay and/or liking big penis.

I was jamming out in the hallway with Matt’s guitar when I realized that the acoustics out here are fantastic.
This is my final fit, my final bellyache

Got back from Xi'an
this morning on a 12-hour train ride. It was gruesome, but good company and a little bit of ~fun juice~ made the ride worthwhile.
Tomorrow marks the beginning of our third week here in Beijing. I can’t believe I’m already halfway done with the program and parting ways with everyone here in just two weeks.
Re: China and its cheap products
Today, I bargained my ass off with my broken Chinese and managed a North Face backpack for a little over 30 bucks. The other bag, which I apparently paid too much for (it’s not leather), was around 15 bucks. I like China.
OH GAWD I KNOW IT'S BEEN LIKE FOREVER
since i last updated and i am so sorry because i know i promised to be good at this and i really thought that maybe quite possibly i could be but i guess i was wrong.
it’s been raining on and off here in beijing, and from what i hear, that’s quite abnormal here during this time of year. i don’t usually like rain, but i love how the sky is so clear the morning after. especially...
